What Unites Us

Campaign 2026 TV Spot Manchester Public TV Robert A. Daniel

What Unites Us? Rational political discussion is becoming too rare.

That's why I'm running to represent Manchester's Ward 4 as an independent-minded, moderate state representative.

I have not always been a Democrat, and I don't believe good ideas belong to any one political party.

My loyalty is not to party leaders or ideology. It is to the people of Ward 4—and to making thoughtful, evidence-based decisions on their behalf.

Most importantly, I intend to represent everyone: people who agree with me, people who disagree with me, and people whose backgrounds and experiences are different from my own.

State representatives make decisions on issues like housing policy, educational choice, maintaining roads, public safety, and the property taxes that so many homeowners struggle to afford. It's a very important responsibility.

What is a representative supposed to do? There are two ways to think about it.

A representative can serve as a delegate, carrying out the clearly expressed wishes of the people, or as a trustee, using independent judgment to make difficult decisions when there is no clear public consensus.

I believe both roles are important. When the majority in Ward 4 has clearly spoken, I will work to represent their views.

But when difficult questions arise, I will study the evidence, listen carefully to different perspectives, and use my best judgment to support policies that are practical, grounded in common sense, and in the long-term interests of the people of New Hampshire.

What do I hope to accomplish? First, I want to strengthen protections for our fundamental rights and freedoms.

More than any single policy, I want to improve the way we do politics. I will be a voice for moderation, respectful disagreement, common sense, and evidence in the New Hampshire House—and within the Democratic caucus.

At its best, the Democratic Party has stood for individual rights, free enterprise tempered by responsible government, and grassroots democracy.

It has been a party where people could disagree openly without fear of retaliation.

That is the Democratic Party I want to help restore—a party that values individual freedom, welcomes differences of opinion, and puts people ahead of political ideology.

Voters who are registered either as unaffiliated or as Democrats can both vote in the Democratic primary on September 8th.

If you're looking for a representative who thinks independently, respects different viewpoints, and puts the people of Ward 4 ahead of party politics, I need your vote in the primary.

I'm asking the voters of ward 4 vote for me – Robert Daniel – in the democratic primary on September 8th. Thank you for your attention.
